Dr. Yvonne Maddox
Acting Director, NIMHD, NIH
Dr. Yvonne MaddoxDr. Yvonne T. Maddox is the Acting Director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. She has also served as the Acting Deputy Director of the National Institutes of Health and the Deputy Director of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

In addition to minority health and health disparities, Dr. Maddox has been a champion of issues related to women and children. She has received numerous honors and awards, including the Presidential Distinguished Executive Rank and Meritorious Executive Rank Awards. For her research in the reproductive sciences, she was awarded the prestigious HeLa Award from the Morehouse School of Medicine.

Dr. Maddox has a B.S. in biology from Virginia Union University, Richmond, and a Ph.D. in physiology from Georgetown University. She was a visiting scientist at the French Atomic Energy Commission, Saclay, France, and graduated from the Senior Managers in Government Program of the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
